Pollution Control Youth Apprentice
Rice Lake Utilities is seeking a motivated and dependable Youth Apprentice to join our Wastewater team this summer. This hands-on position will have you working alongside licensed operators gaining experience in plant operations, maintenance and lab duties. This is a great opportunity for high school students or young individuals interested in environmental science, public works or skilled trades.
What You Will Do
· Learn the basics of how drinking water and wastewater are treated
· Assist operators with daily tasks at the wastewater treatment plant
· Help maintain lift stations and collection systems
· Support operation of wells, booster stations, and the water distribution system
· Record basic operational data using computer systems
· Gain exposure to tools, equipment and machinery used in utility work
· Assist with general maintenance tasks like cleaning, mowing and facility upkeep
· Observe and learn about safety practices and industry regulations
Who We Are Looking For
· Current high school Sophomore or Junior student interested in a hands-on career
· Must be eligible for the Youth Apprenticeship program
· Willingness to learn and try new tasks
· Positive attitude and strong work ethic
· Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions
· Basic computer skills (or willingness to learn)
· Reliable transportation and ability to report to work on time

Water/Wastewater Operator
Rice Lake Utilities is accepting applicants for the position of Water/Wastewater Operator until filled. This is a skilled position which requires various duties associated with installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of the water and wastewater infrastructure and/or facilities under the supervision of the Water Superintendent.
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
· At least 2 years of experience working with municipal water system
· Wisconsin DNR certifications in groundwater and distribution or the ability to achieve within the first year of employment
· Wisconsin CDL with appropriate endorsement or the ability to achieve within the first year of employment
· Sound mechanical ability and computer knowledge desired
· A degree in water/wastewater technology is preferred
· Ability to work alone and within in a team atmosphere
· High School diploma
Please note: Holiday and alternating weekend work is required. The starting wage range for this position is $31.57-$36.57 and is dependent on qualifications.
